Fiction from my D&D game

Inspired by games I play with my friends, I’ll occasionally write up some micro-fiction of what the NPCs & villains are doing “off-screen.”

Sheila. An introduction to my new PC, an ex-cop with psychic powers and a guilty complex. This one I wrote as a player in my friend’s game.



The Heir. The elven villains grapple with how to survive in a human-dominated world.


By Means Fair or Foul. The Prince’s officers decides what to do with a prisoner.

Succession. The Prince and a nobleman discuss a crisis of succession ahead of a key vote.

The Dossiers. The Marquis’ officers plan their next move after their boss is killed.

Hell’s Betrayer. Asmodeus punishes a devil who betrayed him.

Captain’s Orders. With the Commander absent, a junior officer barks orders in her place.


Zarif’s Conquest. An ambitious warlord invades an oasis village.

New Lords. Zarif’s ambition leads him to abandon his lord — and find a new one.

Bitter Defeat. Zarif is tested by an oath-bound knight.

The Warbreed. A half-orc fights side-by-side with a wizard and contemplates his grisly past.

Pitiless. Granted undeath, Zarif suffers the consequences of his unholy bargain.


The Fancy. A charismatic pirate captain raises morale with a boastful speech.

Insolvent. After the PCs murdered a black market supplier, an interested party discovers the aftermath.

Hell’s Kitchen. Leblanc prepares for a big feast, giving the PCs a way in.
